Working Interest:

Develop clean, sustainable and cost-effective technologies for lignocellulose pretreatment/fractionation, enzymatic saccharification, as well as the utilization of lignocellulosic materials, including cellulose nanomaterials, functional sugars, and lignin-based materials.


Work Accomplishments

  • Directed research projects for 5 PhD students, 22 M. Eng. students, 5 Research Assistants/Associates, and 1 Postdoctoral Fellow

  • Published over 80 scientific papers in refereed journals and 1 book chapter

  • Authored 32 publications in conference proceedings and 9 reports to 6 companies

  • 41 patents and patent applications

  • Established a pilot scale demonstration of lignocellulose pretreatment and saccharification

  • Set up a new method system for the clean preparation and application of cellulose nanomaterials based on recoverable organic acid hydrolysis
