We published a paper about new LC-ID-MS/MS methods for metabolomic study of Clostridium thermocellum

[2013.8.16]Our paper about new LC-ID-MS/MS methods for metabolomic study ofClostridium thermocellumis published onAnalytical Letterson 15th August.

We developed a new protocol for metabolomic studies by combining liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and isotope dilution mass spectrometry with universal 13C labeled internal standards fromEscherichia Coli. The multiple reaction monitoring mode of mass spectrometry was used for quantification. The methods were applied to the quantitative analysis of intracellular metabolites extracted from wild-type and ethanol-adapted strains ofClostridium thermocellumcultivated with and without ethanol stress, which can help elucidate the metabolic mechanism behind ethanol adaptation inC. thermocellum.

The wok was accomplished by the collaboration between our group and Public Laboratory of Bioenergy and Biofuels in QIBBET. The master candidate student Jiatao Cui in our group is the first author. Professor Qiu Cui in our group and Dr. Wenna Guan in Public Laboratory of Bioenergy and Biofuels are the corresponding authors. The work was supported by National Basic Research Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
